HISTORY

Here is a little history of the club with thanks to Eugen Braun who has maintained a Website for the COTDC for around 20 years.

COTDC has been going strong since 1980. In fact the 10th Anniversay Ball in 1990 was the first dance ever to be allowed in the Great Hall of New Parliament House. 360 dancers from around Australia attended.  Our 20th Anniversary Ball was also held there and 440 dancers attended and again Silver Anniversary Ball in 2005.
Membership of 65-70 has been maintained. Live music by various artists & old time dance bands added much magic to our great events.s  ie Delaineys re-named to Rose City from Wangaratta,
Vintage Brass from Forbes, Ron's Rhythm Rascals from South Coast, Ed Kilo's, Sweet Sherry Stompers and Ian Stewart.  Locals Lindsey Marks, Arthur George and
Darrel Gaukroger also played regularly. The club has an enviable record of kind volunteers in management roles, setting up & pulling down equipment, decorating, teaching, organising special events.  Our members have e
ven invented new dances. Harmonie Waltz by Ron Prescott, St Eddies Blues by our

very own Dance Master Brian Venables.
Much outstanding and sustained effort by early members is
fondly remembered especially Jean & Arthur George,
Brian & Joy Venables, Brian Banfield, Duncan & Gwen Souter,
Bruce & Viv Radcliffe … all life members.
No wonder one continuously feels a warmth of companionship on
all Club occasions.
We are lucky to be a very friendly Club.
